Côte d’Ivoire beat Ghana 2–0 in AFCON 2027 qualifier

The Black Stars of Ghana have suffered a 2–0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in their opening Group C match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Bouaké.

Malick Yalcouyé opened the scoring shortly before half-time, before Franck Kessié doubled the hosts’ advantage from the penalty spot in the second half.

Ghana struggled to turn its possession and attacking moves into goals, with Côte d’Ivoire holding on comfortably to claim all three points.

The result leaves Ghana needing to regroup ahead of its next Group C qualifier against The Gambia on September 29, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
