Commitment to NDC work keeps me going — Mfantseman Chairman
The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Mfantseman Constituency, Mr Frederick Kwesi Budu Hagan, has attributed his steady rise within the party to his commitment and dedication to party work.
According to him, his progression from the branch level to the constituency leadership was not by chance, but a result of the years of service and commitment he had demonstrated to the party.
Mr Budu Hagan, popularly known among NDC supporters as Chairman Budu, said delegates and party faithful had consistently recognised and rewarded his dedication whenever the opportunity arose.
He made the remarks in an interview on the Kingdom FM morning show on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as he seeks re-election as the NDC Constituency Chairman for Mfantseman.
He said his experience from years of working at various levels of the party had strengthened his resolve to continue serving the NDC.
“Since I came to the constituency, I have dedicated myself to party work, and sometimes people thought I was the chairman when I wasn’t.
“One thing about our party is that they have seen my commitment and they reward me when they get the chance, and so I will count on them this time,” Chairman Budu said.
More work ahead
The chairman said although his administration had achieved a lot during his previous term, he believed there was still more to be done to strengthen the party in the constituency.
“ Our elders say, ‘to whom much is given, much is expected.’ We did a lot to bring the party to power, now we have more to do to consolidate the victory,” he said.
Mr Budu Hagan said, if re-elected, one of his immediate priorities would be to support the government and the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman to deliver on promises made to the electorate during the 2024 general election.
“During the last election, we made some promises to the people. As your next constituency chairman, I will put up my best to help the government achieve them,” he stated.
He explained that delivering on the promises would not only benefit constituents but also help strengthen the NDC’s electoral prospects ahead of the 2028 general election.
Party office
On the need for a permanent party office, Chairman Budu Hagan said efforts were already underway to secure land for the construction of a befitting constituency office.
He said the project would be one of his major priorities after the constituency election.
“On the party office, we have worked hard to get land for the construction. By the grace of God, when we are done with the election, you will hear that our major project is the cutting of the sod for the construction of the party office,” he said.
