Fire breaks out at Avenor in Accra
A fire outbreak has been reported at Avenor in the North Industrial Area of Accra, with flames and thick smoke seen rising from the industrial enclave on Thursday morning, October 1, 2026.
The fire, which reportedly started in the early hours of the day, has caused concern among residents, traders and businesses operating in the area.
According to reports from the scene, the blaze was burning intensely as firefighters worked to bring it under control.
Two fire tenders had reportedly arrived at the scene, although efforts to contain the fire were being hampered by difficulties accessing parts of the affected area. Residents have been urged to make way for firefighters to enable them to reach the fire and carry out their operations effectively.
The affected area, around Kofikrom within the North Kaneshie Industrial Area and close to the ECG Avenor office, reportedly houses businesses, traders and residents. Some people were seen fleeing the area, while others attempted to salvage their belongings.
As of the time of filing, the cause of the fire, the extent of damage and the number of casualties, if any, had not been officially confirmed.
