The Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency, Dr Prince Ebenezer Arhin, has commissioned two major projects aimed at improving the living conditions of constituents.

The projects, comprising the Anomabo Market and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Amisakrom, were commissioned on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Held under the distinguished chairmanship of the Paramount Chief of the Anomabo Traditional Area, Kantamanto Amoanu XII, the commissioning ceremonies were attended by enthusiastic constituents who expressed their joy over the completion of the projects in their communities.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Arhin said the NDC government, under the presidency of John Dramani Mahama, was committed to ensuring development in every community in the Mfantseman Constituency.

He called on users of the market, particularly the market women, to maintain proper sanitation at the facility.

He said it was not appropriate for the Municipal Assembly to spend additional funds on sanitation at the market when the market women could help maintain the facility at no cost to the Assembly.

“What I’m saying is that 10 per cent of the money goes to education, 10 per cent goes to healthcare and 10 per cent goes to sanitation. This is very sad.

“I want the market women to promise me that they will sweep and dispose of their refuse when they close the market. We shouldn’t use money that could be used to build schools or hospitals to gather refuse.

“We will provide dustbins for you in the market so you can put the filth in them,” Dr Arhin added.

In his address, Kantamanto Amoanu XII called for unity among the political class in the constituency, saying it was the surest way to sustain development in the area, particularly in Anomabo, the traditional council over which he presides.

“Anomabo, we are blessed to have this project. We are fortunate to have people from Anomabo who occupy various positions in government. This is why I ask you to be united and support one another. I am not doing politics, but if someone is doing something better, let us unite and rally behind the person,” he said.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Stanley Eric Acquah, assured traders of an equitable distribution of the market stalls.

“Let no one think that we are going to be biased in the distribution of the stalls. We should all be rest assured that you will get what you deserve,” he assured.

He explained that some components of the project, including mini-shades and other ancillary facilities contained in the original plan, were not completed by the previous government due to delays.

He pledged to make arrangements for the construction of the shades to provide shelter for traders.

“The past government left out some parts of the project due to delays. They were supposed to include shades for petty traders who cannot afford to hire the stalls. The floor was supposed to be paved with pavement blocks, but this was neglected, and we had to use these stones instead.

“But I assure you that we are going to make good use of the revenue from the market to construct shades for you,” Mr Acquah pledged.

The market women expressed their delight at the completion of the project and described the development as a major relief for traders in the area.

Meanwhile, at Amisakrom, the Municipal Health Director, Solomon Oware Mengyah, said the facilities at the CHPS compound were of a standard that qualified it for upgrading to the status of a health centre.

He expressed gratitude to the MP and the MCE for providing the community with the facility, describing it as an important addition to healthcare delivery in the area.

He, however, called on the authorities and the community to provide adequate security for the facility and the health personnel who would be posted there.
