FC AshGold coach Karim Zito has urged Asante Kotoko manager Eric Tinkler to adjust to the realities of Ghanaian football following the South African coach’s concerns about the poor state of pitches.

According to Zito, Tinkler should have assessed the conditions in Ghana before accepting the job and must now find ways to adapt.

“Eric Tinkler needs to adjust himself to the situation here in Ghana. He should have taken the time to come down and assess the conditions before accepting the Asante Kotoko job,” he told Akoma FM.

Zito noted that despite Tinkler’s complaints about poor playing surfaces, the Kotoko coach has already enjoyed success, leading the Porcupine Warriors to the Democracy Cup.

“The same poor pitches he has been complaining about have now helped him win a trophy, despite all the negativity surrounding the situation.”

However, Zito said he was genuinely happy to see Tinkler celebrate the achievement, adding that the moment reminded him of his own experiences after winning trophies.

“I was happy for Tinkler. I remember when I won a cup, I also danced. So, when I saw him celebrating, I saw a bit of myself in him. I was genuinely happy for him.”

Tinkler has previously acknowledged the challenges posed by Ghana’s playing conditions but maintained that his team cannot use them as an excuse and must adapt.
