Thomas Partey Arrives in Saudi Arabia to Complete Al Shabab Move

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has arrived in Saudi Arabia as he closes in on a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab.

The former Arsenal and Atlético Madrid midfielder travelled to Riyadh to complete the final stages of the proposed transfer, with a medical examination forming part of the process.

Reports indicate that Partey has since undergone the medical at a hospital in Riyadh, with final formalities and documentation now being processed ahead of the completion of the deal.

The 33-year-old is expected to sign a one-year contract with Al Shabab as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Spanish side Villarreal.

Partey spent the 2025/26 season at Villarreal after leaving Arsenal, where he made 130 appearances and scored nine goals during his five-year spell with the Premier League club. He previously enjoyed a successful period at Atlético Madrid.

A move to Al Shabab would mark Partey’s first experience in the Saudi Pro League and provide him with another chapter in his club career.

The Ghana international is also expected to remain an important figure for the Black Stars as Ghana prepares for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin in September.

If the remaining formalities are completed, Partey will officially become an Al Shabab player.
