WAEC Releases 2026 WASSCE Provisional Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

In a press release dated September 4, 2026, WAEC said heads of schools would be provided with login details to access the results of their candidates, while individual candidates could also check their results online through the Council’s website.

A total of 512,862 candidates from 1,022 schools were registered for the examination. The figure comprised 225,270 males and 287,592 females, representing an 11.07 per cent increase over the 461,736 candidates who entered for the 2025 examination.

WAEC said 5,049 candidates, representing 0.98 per cent, were absent from the examination.

Performance in core subjects

The results show that Social Studies recorded the highest proportion of candidates obtaining grades A1 to C6, with 393,918 candidates, representing 78.04 per cent.

This was followed by English Language, where 315,094 candidates (62.40 per cent) obtained grades A1 to C6.

For Integrated Science, 309,605 candidates, representing 62.08 per cent, obtained grades A1 to C6, while 306,234 candidates (60.75 per cent) achieved grades A1 to C6 in Core Mathematics.

Core Mathematics recorded 74,692 candidates (14.82 per cent) with grade F9, the highest F9 proportion among the four core subjects.

Integrated Science followed with 76,136 candidates (15.27 per cent) obtaining F9, while English Language recorded 55,940 candidates (11.08 per cent) and Social Studies 39,416 candidates (7.81 per cent) with F9.

WAEC has meanwhile cautioned candidates, parents and other stakeholders against fraudsters who claim they can upgrade examination results for a fee.

The Council said the results are secured and can be authenticated through its results verification system, adding that its QR code can also be downloaded and used to verify results.

The statement released by WAEC
