GES Releases National Harmonised Prospectus for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the National Harmonised Prospectus for students preparing to enrol in Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The prospectus outlines the essential items required for both prospective boarding and day students to ensure a smooth, consistent and standardised admission process nationwide.

For day students, the required items include a mathematical set and scientific calculator, decent school-specific sandals without embellishment, decent black or white sneakers, and a school bag.

Day students will also be required to purchase cleaning items from one of three designated groups. These include either a pair of hard hand gloves, five litres of liquid soap and one kilogramme of washing powder; or bleach, a dustpan, a long-handle broom and a scrubbing brush; or a standing mop and mop bucket, a duster and a short local broom.

Meanwhile, the list for boarding students is more extensive. Required items include a hard-body suitcase or trunk, chop box, drinking cup, plate and cutlery, toiletries, school-specific sandals, leather slippers, black or white sneakers, school-specific socks, pyjamas or sleepwear, underwear, a plastic bucket with cover and pail, and a school-specific Bible or Quran and hymn book.

Boarding students are also required to bring a pillow, two bedsheets with two pillowcases, a blanket and sleeping cloth, as well as khaki and white trousers. Female students are additionally required to provide white dresses and checked dresses where applicable.

Other essential items include white shirts, a student-size mosquito net, a mathematical set and scientific calculator, a student mattress, school-specific shoes and belt, a hoe or cutlass, and mosquito repellent.

Boarding students will also be required to purchase cleaning materials from one of the three designated groups.

The GES has stressed that all personal items should be embossed or embroidered with the student’s name for easy identification.

The Service has encouraged parents and students to carefully review the prospectus and make the necessary preparations ahead of the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic year.

The release comes ahead of the announcement of school placements and is intended to provide parents and students with clear guidance on the essential requirements for enrolment, ensuring that newly admitted students are adequately prepared to begin the academic year.
