Hearts of Oak Withdraw from 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC have announced their withdrawal from the 2026 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top-4 Tournament.

In a club statement issued on Tuesday, Hearts of Oak said the decision was primarily due to a clash between the tournament dates and other pre-agreed programmes on the club’s calendar.

The club also cited the tournament’s proximity to the start of the new league season, noting that participation could affect its preparations and existing commitments.

According to Hearts of Oak, the club had previously engaged GHALCA and requested a change in the tournament schedule to allow the Phobians to participate. However, the request did not result in a change of dates.

“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time,” the statement said.

Hearts of Oak expressed appreciation to GHALCA for its efforts in organizing the competition and wished the association and participating clubs a successful tournament.

The club also stressed that it remains committed to maintaining its cordial relationship and continued collaboration with GHALCA and the wider Ghanaian football community.

The decision means Hearts of Oak will not feature in the 2026 edition of the GHALCA Top-4 competition, as the club shifts its focus toward its existing programmes and preparations for the new league season.
