Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII Marks 30 Years of Traditional Leadership

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Paramount Chief of the Abeadze Traditional Area, has marked 30 years of traditional leadership with a ceremony at Abeadze Dominase, the seat of the traditional council.

The ceremony, which brought together traditional leaders, members of the traditional council, family members and residents to commemorate the milestone and reaffirm their commitment to the traditional authority, was held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The celebration to mark 30 years on the throne is held alongside this year’s Ahobaa Kese Festival.

In the three decades of his rulership, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII has projected the Abeadze State beyond the shores of Ghana, attracting people from all walks of life to Abeadze for various reasons, particularly during the annual festival celebration.

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII has dedicated his time, wisdom and resources to the service of Ghana, serving in various capacities under different governments. Some of the positions he has held include President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Member of the Council of State, Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Chairman of the Central Regional Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Chairman of the Board of Governors of Ankaful Nursing Training School, Board Member of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), Member of the Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM), Member of the Central Regional Peace Council, Representative of the National House of Chiefs on the Prisons Service Council, Representative of the National House of Chiefs on the Minerals Development Fund Board, and currently serving as the Board Chairman of the Water Resources Commission.

His extensive record of service reflects a life dedicated not only to the development of the Abeadze Traditional Area but also to regional and national development. Through these roles, he has contributed to traditional governance, public-sector administration, peacebuilding, infrastructure, water resources management and other areas of national development.

As part of activities marking the anniversary, Nana Ewusiwaa I was sworn in as the Mpuntuhen of the Abeadze Traditional Area and took the oath of allegiance to the Paramount Chief. The Mpuntuhen of Akobiman also swore an oath of allegiance to Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII during the ceremony.

The Grand Durbar of the 30th anniversary celebration and this year’s Ahobaa Kese Festival will reach their climax on Saturday, August 29, with a grand durbar of chiefs at Abeadze Dominase.

President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is expected to attend the durbar, alongside other high-level government officials.

The Ga Mantse and President of Ga Traditional Council, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Prof Nana Ama Brown Klutse, are also expected to grace the occasion as co-chairpersons, together with other traditional rulers from across the country, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, and government officials.  

The grand durbar is expected to provide an opportunity for chiefs, government officials and the people of the Abeadze Traditional Area to celebrate Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII’s three decades on the throne and acknowledge his contribution to traditional leadership, peace and development.

The climax on Saturday is anticipated to attract a large gathering of traditional rulers, government representatives, dignitaries and members of the public as the Abeadze Traditional Area honours its Paramount Chief on the occasion of his 30th anniversary on the throne.
