‘The smiles on your faces reflect Mahama’s governance’ – Ato Forson

The Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam and Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has linked the joyous celebration of this year’s Enyan Abaasa Akwambo Festival to what he described as the sterling performance of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Dr Ato Forson made the remarks when he joined chiefs and people of the Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area for the grand durbar of the festival on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

He said the government had introduced measures aimed at easing the economic difficulties confronting Ghanaians and improving their quality of life.

“Nananom, I can see that my oldies are looking good, my young men and women are doing well. This shows the good work President Mahama is doing,” he said.

According to the Finance Minister, President Mahama inherited the country in a difficult economic situation but had, through his policies, begun turning the situation around.

He expressed confidence that the country was now on the path to economic recovery and improved living conditions.

On development within the Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area, Dr Ato Forson appealed to the chiefs to hand over the construction of a proposed community centre to him.

He pledged to use his share of the Common Fund to finance the project, including its design and construction.

“Nananom, if it will please you, I will like you to hand over the construction of the community centre to me so that I do the design and construct it for you. I will use my Common Fund to do it, and thankfully, under President Mahama, the Common Fund is huge,” he promised.

Chief praises Mahama

The Paramount Chief of the Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area and Vice President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Okoamankera Kwame Akonu X, expressed appreciation to President Mahama for appointing Dr Ato Forson as a Cabinet Minister.

He said the appointment represented a significant milestone for the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency.

“Since my 33 years as a chief, there hasn’t been anyone from Ajumako Enyan Essiam appointed to be a Cabinet Minister, but today, because of Ato Forson, we have a Cabinet Minister from Ajumako Enyan Essiam. And who made it so? It is John Dramani Mahama,” he said.

Okoamankera Kwame Akonu X also urged the youth to take an active role in preserving the culture and traditions of the people.

He stressed the importance of discipline, saying it must serve as a catalyst for the youth to realise the full potential of their cultural heritage and contribute meaningfully to the development of the traditional area.
