Recruits dismissed over forged WASSCE results

Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, has disclosed that some recruits have been dismissed from security services training schools after verification by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) revealed that the WASSCE results they presented for recruitment had been forged or doctored.

According to the Minister, the affected recruits were identified during the verification process conducted as part of efforts to ensure integrity in the recruitment of personnel into Ghana’s security services.

He said the individuals whose results were found to have been falsified would not only lose their places in the training schools but would also be placed on a red list.

The red-listing, he explained, is intended to prevent the affected individuals from applying for recruitment into any of Ghana’s security services in the future.

Mr. Muntaka further warned that recruits found to have deliberately falsified their academic credentials could face prosecution.

The development forms part of measures by the Interior Ministry to strengthen the recruitment process and ensure that only qualified applicants are admitted into the country’s security services.

The Minister’s comments also highlight the government’s growing scrutiny of academic credentials submitted by applicants, particularly following concerns over examination malpractice and forged certificates.
