OFAF takes Free Healthcare to Ekumfi Attakwa

The Obaapa Fatimah Amoadu Foundation (OFAF) has organised a free health screening exercise at Ekumfi Attakwa in the Central Region, bringing basic healthcare services closer to residents and helping to identify previously undetected health conditions.

The exercise attracted residents who took the opportunity to undergo health checks, seek medical advice and receive education on preventive healthcare.

In an interview with the media, the Administrator of the Foundation, Grace Adokoh, said the initiative formed part of efforts to bring essential healthcare services closer to people in the community.

She stated that the Foundation was encouraged by the response from residents and remained committed to supporting interventions that improve the health and wellbeing of people in Ekumfi.

Additional, Grace mentioned that the exercise was also intended to promote early detection, noting that many health conditions could be better managed when identified early.

“We want our people to understand that their health matters. Prevention today saves lives tomorrow, and that is why we believe in taking healthcare to the doorstep of our people,” she said.

Mariam Suleiman, a nurse at the Yamoransa Model Health Centre and a member of the medical team, commended the initiative for providing residents with convenient access to healthcare.

“The medical outreach has afforded the residents the opportunity to access healthcare at their doorstep. This is a timely intervention, and we commend Obaapa Fatimah Amoadu for putting this programme together,” she noted.

She disclosed that the screening had helped identify some medical conditions among participants that had previously gone unnoticed.

“Through the screening, we were able to identify some conditions that were hidden and may not have been detected if these people had not taken part in the exercise. Malnutrition among children and BP among the adults were high.

“Fortunately, the conditions were identified and the necessary attention was given to the affected persons. We have a nutritionist who are taking care of all the cases” she mentioned.

Mariam Suleiman encouraged residents to make regular health checks a priority, stressing the importance of early detection and treatment.

The outreach forms part of OFAF’s community-focused initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare and promoting healthier living among residents.

Grace Adokoh expressed appreciation to the medical team, volunteers and residents for their support and participation in the exercise, and reaffirmed OFAF’s commitment to serving communities across Ekumfi.
