Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Visits Howard University

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been warmly welcomed to Howard University in Washington, D.C., as part of activities marking the Millennium Excellence Awards Week.

The Asantehene was received by the President of Howard University, Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, Provost Dr. Anthony Wutoh, and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Hon. Victor Smith.

The visit highlights the strong cultural, educational and diplomatic ties between Ghana and the United States, while providing an opportunity for engagement between the Asantehene and one of the United States’ leading historically Black universities.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s presence at Howard University also underscores the importance of education, leadership and the preservation of African heritage, values that have remained central to his work and public engagements.

The engagement forms part of a wider programme of activities associated with the Millennium Excellence Awards Week, which brings together distinguished personalities and institutions to celebrate excellence, leadership and achievement.

The Asantehene’s visit to Howard University is expected to further strengthen the bonds between Ghanaian and African institutions and the global African diaspora, particularly in the areas of education, culture and leadership.
