Queen Mother Calls on Investors to Establish Pineapple Factory at Gomoa Amanful
Nana Oko Andoah Mununkum II, Omankradohemaa of Gomoa Amanful, in the Gomoa West District in the Central Region, has called on investors and private sector players to establish a pineapple processing factory in the community.
According to her, the establishment of a pineapple factory would create jobs for the youth, provide a ready market for farmers and add value to locally produced pineapples.
“We are calling on investors to come to Gomoa Amanful and establish a pineapple processing factory. We have the potential to produce enough pineapples, but we need investment to process the produce and create a ready market for our farmers,” she said.
Nana Oko Andoah Mununkum II said Gomoa Amanful has the potential to become a major pineapple-producing and processing hub if the necessary investments are made in the agricultural sector.
“If we get the right investment, our farmers will have a guaranteed market for their produce, our youth will get employment, and the community will also benefit from increased economic activities,” she added.
She therefore appealed to investors, government and other stakeholders to explore the opportunities available in the area and support the establishment of a pineapple processing facility.
The Omankradohemaa also disclosed that the community is making concerted efforts to construct a market centre to provide a dedicated trading space for residents and traders.
“We are also working hard to build a market centre for our traders. The fundraising activities for this year’s festival will go towards the construction of the market,” she explained.
She expressed hope that the completion of the market, coupled with investment in pineapple processing, would boost economic activities, create employment opportunities and improve livelihoods in Gomoa Amanful.
