Anthony Taylor Appointed Director of Elite Refereeing in Turkey

Former Premier League referee Anthony Taylor has been appointed as the Director of Elite Refereeing by the Turkish Football Federation.

The 47-year-old, who retired from officiating just days after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, takes on a new leadership role where he will oversee the strategic and technical development of elite refereeing across Turkish football.

Taylor enjoyed a distinguished refereeing career, officiating in some of the biggest matches in English and international football, including Premier League fixtures, UEFA competitions, and major FIFA tournaments.

His appointment is expected to strengthen the development of referees in Turkey by improving officiating standards, mentoring top officials, and implementing modern refereeing practices.

The Turkish Football Federation believes Taylor’s extensive experience at the highest level of the game will play a key role in enhancing the quality and professionalism of elite refereeing in the country.
