Ghanaians Players Abroad Make Their Mark Across Europe

Ghanaian players enjoyed a productive weekend across Europe and beyond, with several members of the national football contingent making significant contributions for their respective clubs.

One of the standout performers was Kwaku Karikari, who produced a remarkable display for Železničar Pančevo. Coming off the bench, Karikari scored a hat-trick and added an assist as his side thrashed their opponents 5-1.

In England, Joseph Opoku continued his promising form for Swansea City, scoring his second goal for the Welsh club in their convincing 3-0 victory over Derby County.

Fatawu Issahaku also made his presence felt for Ipswich Town, providing an assist despite his side’s 5-2 defeat to Manchester United.

There were further goals for Ghanaian players elsewhere in Europe. Samuel Owusu found the net for Maccabi Petah Tikva as they secured a 2-1 victory.

At Athletic Club, Inaki Williams contributed an assist in the Spanish side’s 2-0 win over Celta Vigo, while Mohammed Kudus made his return from injury for Tottenham. Kudus featured in his side’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United as he continued his recovery and return to competitive action.

In Germany, Gideon Mensah marked his Bundesliga debut for FC Köln with a victory. The defender helped Köln defeat Hoffenheim 3-2, recording 65 touches, eight recoveries, four clearances and two tackles during an impressive first appearance in Germany’s top flight.

Elsewhere, Carl Davordzie provided the assist for Sepsi’s winning goal in their narrow 1-0 victory over FC Argeș, while Prince Owusu also registered an assist as Dunajská Streda recorded an emphatic 6-1 win.

In the Premier League, Antoine Semenyo completed the full 90 minutes for Manchester City in their 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace. The Ghanaian forward contributed an assist for Erling Haaland as City secured another important win.

Tariq Lamptey also made an impact from the bench, providing an assist after coming on for QPR in their 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.

With goals, assists, a hat-trick, a return from injury and a Bundesliga debut among the highlights, it was a highly productive weekend for Ghanaian players abroad.
